How is your approach?

I work from an Integrative perspective, blending the deep emotional insight of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with the practical, change-oriented tools of Behavioral Science.

My counseling program is designed to help you not only understand why you feel the way you do but also change how you react in your daily life, when those reactions are causing discomfort in your life.

What do we do during sessions?

Our sessions are mostly active and interactional. You don't just "talk about" problems, we work to reframe and experience them differently. The overall goal is helping you move from reactive, survival-based behaviors to conscious, connection-based choices.

Self awareness: We hit the "pause" button on your rapid-fire reactions to look at what is happening in your body and mind in real-time.

Tracking the Steps: We break down a recent conflict or distressful moment frame-by-frame to see where the disconnection happened.

Reframing the Narrative: We try to understand how "symptoms" (like anxiety or controlling behavior) actually are "learned strategies" for surviving. This reduces shame and opens the door for change.

Corrective Experiences: we learn new skills and try behavioral "experiments" to interrupt old patterns.

What can I expect?

My purpose is that you leave with a deeper understanding of your emotional world and a toolkit for handling life’s challenges.

I like my clients to feel that counseling is their safe and personal space to open up and explore themselves. For that reason, I try to run the sessions in a relaxed, non-judgmental and supportive space. Just as I am the one who offers the questions, support and professional guidance, you are the one who decides what and to what extent to talk about from session to session. During them, we focus on the intersection of your emotions and your behaviors:

Identifying the "Cycle": we look at the unuseful repetitive patterns you get stuck in. We map out the "Loop": the trigger, the emotion, bodily sensations, meaning made, the reactive behavior, and the result.

The Logic of Emotions: We don't treat your feelings as irrational. We dig deeper to find the core emotions (fear, sadness, longing) and unmet needs (safety, acceptance, recognition)

Behavioral Mechanics: Using Behavioral Science, we look at the function of your behaviors (withdrawal, control, compulsion, etc.). What are you trying to get or avoid? What reinforces these habits? Next, we practice new skills and tools that allow you to replace those old habits that no longer serve you.

Safety and Attachment: We also work on how you connect with others and yourself, aiming to move from insecurity and defensiveness to safety, vulnerability and connection.

Duration

The duration of a counseling process varies from person to person. It depends a lot on how you want to use this space and what you are seeking here, but it is always agreed with you and you always have the freedom to interrupt the process whenever you want. Usually, we set weekly sessions and each one lasts 50-60 minutes, but this can change depending on your possibilities or preferences.

What is the difference with Psychotherapy?

The main difference is about the intervention areas. Psychotherapist treat mental illnesses or any kind of pathological alteration. Psychological counselors provide service to the addressing and overcoming of social conflicts and other non-pathological issues

Counselors offer support and guidance to go through life transitions or adjustment problems, helping you to, between others:

  • Process and overcome social and personal conflicts.

  • Personal development and holistic wellbeing.

  • Improve communication and coping skills.

  • Promoting cognitive-behavioural change and emotional skills.

  • Guide clients in identifying their goals and possible solutions to emotional distress relief.
